One of the most frequent questions I have been asked this year is “Clair, how can you travel so much when you work full time?”

2015 was an epic year for me in fairness. I visited 7 countries across 3 continents. And yes, I did this on a budget of annual leave! It has caused some of my family to joke with the line “Where’s Clair?” because I have been likely to be in any part of the World at a given time.

The thing is, I have been obsessed with travel for as long as I can remember. There is nothing quite like the feeling when you arrive in a new place for the first time. You know that little mixture of excitement, anticipation and sometimes utter fear! I love it. But, unlike many people my age, I have never had the luxury of dropping everything to travel. Between going to college, building a career and buying a house, there were always other commitments.

While looking for inspiration for travel I turned to the internet and read blogs from the most amazing travel writers, but I found that the majority of them were preaching “Drop everything and Go” or “I quit my job on wall street to Travel the World”, which were just not realistic for me and I couldn’t relate. Still, there was a part of me that just wouldn’t give up that easily, so I decided to find my own way. I set myself a goal of visiting 30 countries before I turned thirty and I completed it with 2 years to spare. My next goal is to visit all of the New 7 wonders of the World and so far I have seen 2. I decided to write this blog to prove to people that it is possible to see the World while working 9-5. I hope I inspire some people to give it a try and wish everyone a Happy Journey

  1. I totally get that you can't really just drop everything and go, especially me who's a mom. XD But I really really want to try out travelling as well, so my husband and I are gonna do it with our kids… Seems you're off to an awesome start with your travels though, keep us posted on “where's Clair” :3
